It was a season of extremes in Marlborough – very high fruit set followed by the hottest January on record, followed by the wettest February on record. Rain continued into March, which helped maintain the large canopies of the season, but also presented disease risk. Harvest began in late March and there were good yields of fruit with excellent varietal character.
This wine is made to preserve and highlight its fresh fruit flavours and refreshing acidity. The fruit is pressed to temperature-controlled stainless steel tank and the juice is vinified at low temperatures over a long fermentation. It is bottled within months of harvest and should be enjoyed when youthful and fresh.
Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc exploded on the wine scene late last century and has steadily gained momentum to become an internationally-recognised wine style and the biggest selling white wine in Australia, by a country mile.
