A NOTE FROM THE WINEMAKERS

“Winning three trophies at Royal Hobart Wine Show was an incredible way to celebrate the passing of the baton after our purchase of Native Point Vineyard from Tim and Sheena High.”

SERVING TEMPERATURE | 10 - 15°

CELLAR POTENTIAL | 10 to 15 years

TASTING NOTES

Concentrated cherry and berry fruit flavours, charry oak and velvety tannin persisting in a long finish. Partial whole bunch fermentation adds layers of savoury interest.

WINEMAKING

Fruit from Nocton Vineyard in Coal River Valley near Hobart in the south of the island and our very own Native Point Vineyard on the east bank of the Tamar River in the north. The fruit was chilled, destemmed and sorted by hand before cold soaking over five days and vinification in open fermenters with hand plunging. There are several different clones in this wine and each was fermented separately, with small amounts of whole bunch in each. The wine was matured for 10 months in a selection of French oak barrels, about 30% new.

SEASON

A great vintage with the rare combination of high yields and excellent quality. After a cold start, ideal warm and dry conditions around flowering produced uniform fruit set. Rain in December was welcomed after below-average rainfall in winter and spring. A mild summer allowed slow and steady ripening, but overall the season was warmer than average and harvest was a little early. We were very happy with fruit of intense flavours and colour.
