TASTING NOTES
A classic blend of two grapes that do especially well in Margaret River: the dark fruit, depth and drive of Cabernet Sauvignon softened by the bright flavours and rounded tannin of Merlot.
SEASON
Vintage 2017 presented many challenges for Margaret River. A very cool spring lead to late budburst and flowering so that the growing season began a few weeks later than average.
Unseasonal summer rain, mild temperatures and high humidity called for careful canopy management throughout the season to ensure fruit of excellent quality. Harvest of red grapes began quite late, in early April.
WINEMAKING
The fruit was destemmed then vinified in open fermenters with hand plunging and pump overs. The wine was matured for 12 months in French oak.
Margaret River is one of the most reliable wine growing regions in Australia and its monotonously glowing vintage reports can bring tears to the eyes of long-suffering vignerons in regions less favoured by Mother Nature.
Surrounded by ocean on three sides, the sea breeze brings cool air to moderate the long summer days.
A collection of classic varieties grown in the earth that suits them best. Each wine is a reflection of their region.
The labels feature an abstract hand-print illustration designed to evoke the distinct personality of the country from which the wine originates.
This abstract hand is representative of the heart of Australia, the wildness and terroir of the land and its iconic red centre.
