SERVING TEMPERATURE | 16 - 18°

CELLAR POTENTIAL | Up to 10 - 15 years

TASTING NOTES

Select parcels from mature vines and an outstanding vintage combine to make this special wine with ripe blackberries and cassis balanced by savoury bay leaf, driving tannin and spicy oak.

SEASON

Another in a string of good seasons for Margaret River. Winter rains set up good ground moisture and a season of balanced conditions produced low yields of exceptional quality. Abundant marri blossom in the region’s forests kept the birds happy and away from vineyards and consistently dry and mild weather produced very little disease pressure. Cool conditions in April and May delayed final ripening and harvest was about a week later than average, perfect for building flavour and complexity in late-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.

WINEMAKING

The fruit was handpicked in early May in ideal dry, moderate weather and was fermented in open fermenters with hand plunging and drain-and-return, as required. The wine was matured in a mix of old and new barriques from a careful selection of Bordeaux coopers.

THE VINEYARD

THE VINEYARD

Brindle Vineyard

Brindle Vineyard is in the Wilyabrup region of Margaret River, just inland from the wild shores of the Indian Ocean, which brings soothing cool breezes in summer.

Between the vineyard and the sea is a rocky outcrop harking back to a time when India was joined to this corner of Western Australia.

This ancient geology gives the area its soils of decomposed granite with coffee rock and iron stone.
