TASTING NOTES
This is a full-bodied wine with aromas of blackberries and chocolate and the distinctive bay leaf character of Margaret River Cabernet wines. The palate has typical Cabernet drive and structure with Merlot adding richness and supple tannin.
SEASON
Hot, dry conditions in summer gave over to milder weather and chilly nights in autumn, which allowed gradual ripening and excellent flavour development in Cabernet and Merlot fruit. This wine was grown at four vineyards in the Wilyabrup, Carbunup and Wallcliffe subregions. Harvest was in late March.
WINEMAKING
The fruit was destemmed then vinified in open fermenters with hand plunging and pump overs. The wine was matured for 12 months in French oak.
Margaret River is one of the most reliable wine growing regions in Australia and its monotonously glowing vintage reports can bring tears to the eyes of long-suffering vignerons in regions less favoured by Mother Nature.
Surrounded by ocean on three sides, the sea breeze brings cool air to moderate the long summer days.
A collection of classic varieties grown in the earth that suits them best. Each wine is a reflection of their region.
The labels feature an abstract hand-print illustration designed to evoke the distinct personality of the country from which the wine originates.
This abstract hand is representative of the heart of Australia, the wildness and terroir of the land and its iconic red centre.
