CHAPTER 1: Modern Love Story
Panel discussion, 2pm - 3pm
Hosted by Natasha Cica, Heide Museum of Modern Art
What does love mean today, actually? In a time where hook-ups are increasingly brokered by Tinder, Grindr, Bumble and Skout – and mashed up by #metoo and more – how can we truly get up close and deeply personal? Hear the views of four modern Australians on human intimacy, the his and hers of sexuality and gender…and where we’re heading next.
CHAPTER 2: Modern Love Song
Musical variety show, 3pm - 5pm
With DJ Charlie Villas and Billie McCarthy
Love me Tinder love me true! In this world of swipe right love affairs, endless empty exchanges and confusing long-term apathy, we pose the question: Is there still room for romance in 2018? Sydney queer celebrity DJ Charlie Villas and cabaret chanteuse Billie McCarthy think the only way forward is to go back to the epic romance of the 90’s Slow Jams, back to a time when we were allowed to love…Love!
Playing renditions of all your favourite panty droppers of the last 30 years, Charlie and Billie will tell tales of finding love, and losing it, and explore the magical world of ghosting… Unlike the 90’s we support a diverse crowd where Love Wins! So come on a rollicking good ride as we get swept up in mass nostalgia and find a remedy for Modern Love. Tickets to Modern Love (musical variety show only) can be purchased here.
