Vintage 2016 in Marlborough was excellent, with above-average crops, yielding high crops of excellent fruit. Our vineyard is in the picturesque Waihopai River valley where ancient river shingle adds to the unique terroir. The wine was fermented in closed stainless steel tanks at cool temperatures to retain maximum fruit flavour and freshness. It was bottled in the spring following harvest.
New Zealand’s modern winemaking industry began in Marlborough in the 1970s and Sauvignon Blanc was central to its prosperity from the start. Today, the region has more than 65% of the total vineyard area in New Zealand and around 75% of the harvest. Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is an internationally recognised wine style. Keys to its success are the relatively warm days and cool nights of the long ripening season.
