Pinot Noir wines from Central Otago are renowned for their intense aromas and flavours. This wine from the Hawkesbury Vineyard near Wanaka has vibrant raspberry and spice aromas and a powerful fruit-driven palate.

VINTAGE

While many other regions in New Zealand suffered through a difficult season of frost, disease pressure and low yields, Central Otago pulled off a “once in a decade” season of generally dry and moderate weather enhance by a long, slow ripening period over autumn. Exceptional colour and concentration in Pinot Noir fruit was combined with full flavour and flawless balancing acid. 

WINEMAKING

Hawkesbury vineyard has four Pinot Noir clones planted in 2002 and 2003. The clones were vinified separately in small open fermenters and were hand plunged. The wine was matured in a mix of old and new barriques from a selection of French coopers.
