Cellar Release - Limited allocation: 6 bottles maximum per customer
Another in a string of good seasons for Margaret River. Winter rains set up good ground moisture and a season of balanced conditions produced low yields of exceptional quality. Abundant marri blossom in the region’s forests kept the birds happy and away from vineyards and consistently dry and mild weather produced very little disease pressure. Cool conditions in April and May delayed final ripening and harvest was about a week later than average, perfect for building flavour and complexity in late-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.
The fruit was handpicked in early May in ideal dry, moderate weather and was fermented in open fermenters with hand plunging and drain-and-return, as required. The wine was matured in a mix of old and new barriques from a careful selection of Bordeaux coopers.
