THE FINER DETAILS
This wine has aromas of ripe forest fruits, hints of mint and subtle vanilla oak. The palate is medium weight with flavours of berry fruit and a hint of oyster shell adding complexity. The finish is clean and crunchy with some gritty tannin.Download Tasting Notes
The 2012 vintage was a welcome relief after the challenging 2011 season. Spring was cool and rainfall was back to average after the deluge of 2011.
Fruit from two vineyards with vines aged between 10 and 20 years was used to make this wine - one on the eastern slopes of Mount Camel on Heathcote’s famed pre-Cambrian soil and one on granite soils. Harvest was in early and mid-March. The wine was matured in French oak for 18 months.
